6 days Rwanda and Uganda wildlife safari, is a unique wildlife safari experience that takes you to two safari destinations in both Rwanda and Uganda, and on this safari it will offer you the spotting of the big five mammals in Akagera national park that includes the lions, buffaloes, rhinos, leopards and elephants, as well as gorilla trekking. This safari will take you to both Akagera national park, Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and Lake Mburo national park with African Vacation Safaris.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Akagera national park in Rwanda.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise in Akagera national park.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and canoeing in Uganda.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking in the Ruhija sector in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park.
Day 5: Transfer to Lake Mburo and afternoon boat cruise in Lake Mburo national park.
Day 6: Game drive and return to Kampala.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Akagera national park in Rwanda.
Depending on your location, your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris will pick you from Kigali International Airport or from your hotel in Kigali, he will welcome you and then brief you about the safari. After the briefing you will be transferred for Kigali city tour to explore and visit the attractive attractions like Kigali genocide memorial, visiting craft shops, visiting Kimironko market and others. After the city tour you will enjoy lunch from one of the restaurants. After lunch you will transfer to the eastern part of the park to Akagera national park that takes you 2 hours’ drive. Upon your arrival you will enjoy the en-route game drive in the beautiful landscape to spot the great animal species until you arrive to your lodge, then check in in the lodge, relax and overnight stay.
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise in Akagera national park.
After breakfast, you will meet your safari guide and then go for the morning game drive in the park for the rewarding game drive that takes you approximately 3 to 4 hours depending on the location of the animals in the park, this is where you will enjoy spotting the big five mammals including lions, buffaloes, rhinos, leopards and elephants. And spot others including waterbucks, hyenas, giraffes, warthogs, zebras, various antelope species and various bird species like Amur falcon, Blue-spotted wood dove, Cardinal quelea, crested barbet, Booted eagle, Marsh owl, Papyrus gonolek, Ross’s turaco, Ruaha chat and among others. After the game drive you will be transferred to lodge for lunch.
After lunch, in the afternoon you will transfer for the afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema which is Rwanda’s second largest lake in Rwanda after Lake Kivu. This is exciting and relaxing experience that offers you spotting of wildlife on the lake shores that come to wash away their thirst like buffaloes, elephants, and spotting crocodiles, hippos in water and spotting various bird species like fish eagle, malachite kingfisher and others. After the boat cruise you will transfer back to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and canoeing in Uganda.
After the hearty breakfast, you will check out from your lodge and meet your safari guide and then transfer to Kabale district to Lake Bunyonyi to the second deepest lake in Africa. You will cross to Uganda through Katuna border. The driving hours to Lake Bunyonyi takes you about 4 to 5 hours through rolling hills, with beautiful landscapes and others. Upon your arrival at Lake Bunyonyi, with the wonderful views you will enjoy your en-route lunch, and then connect for canoeing and also taking walks to view the islands and also around the community. The islands at the lake are such exciting with the different histories to listen too, after you will connect to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking in the Ruhija sector in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park.
On the 4th day of the safari, get up in the morning and then enjoy your breakfast. After breakfast together with your packed lunch, meet your safari guide and then transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during gorilla trekking. After the briefing you will be grouped in various groups of about 8 members per group, and each group will be assigned with the experienced park ranger and park guide to lead them in the forest to look for the mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park takes about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas, this is where you will trek through the steep, densely forested hills while fascinated with the various primates, bird species, and animal species and among many others in the forest. And once you find the gorillas you will be given one hour to be in the presence of the gorillas that is keeping 7 meters away from them. This is when you will watch the gorillas doing their daily activities like playing, grooming, feeding, mating and others. During that period that’s when you will take the pictures and then recording their videos. And after the experience you will trek back to the starting point and then your driver guide will transfer you to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Mburo and afternoon boat cruise in Lake Mburo national park.
After breakfast, check out from your lodge and then start your journey to Lake Mburo national park that takes you approximately 4 hours’ drive from Lake Bunyonyi with the en-route lunch in Mbarara town. After lunch you will head to the park for the boat cruise along Lake Mburo to spot the various hippos, crocodiles in water, and then spotting various elephants, antelopes, Uganda kons and others minus forgetting various bird species. Later return back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Game drive and return to Kampala.
On the last day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast you will check out from your lodge and the transfer to the park for the game drive to spot zebras, buffaloes, elands, topis, and more, and spotting various bird species. After the game drive you will proceed with your journey to Kampala with the en-route lunch at the equator in Kayabwe, as well as taking pictures and later connect to Kampala with a drop off at Entebbe International Airport or to your hotel in Kampala that will make your safari come to the end.
