Day 1: Pick up and then transfer to Kibale forest national park.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Pick up and then transfer to Kibale forest national park.

On the 1st day of the 6 days Uganda wildlife and primate safari, your safari guide from African Vacation Safaris will welcome you from your hotel in Kampala or from Entebbe International Airport and then brief you about the safari. After the briefing you will start on your journey to Kibale forest national park; this takes you approximately about 5 to 6 hours’ drive with the perfect views of the landscape along the way, as well as en-route lunch in Fort Portal. In Fort Portal you will have the stunning views of the beautiful attractions like Rwenzori mountain peaks, tea and then banana plantation, crater lakes and among others. Upon your arrival you will check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.

On the 2nd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast, after breakfast you will meet your safari guide and then transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations to follow during chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing you will be grouped in different groups of 6members per group, and each group will be led by the knowledgeable and then skilled park ranger and guide. You will start the trekking with the park guides that are familiar with the trails, chimpanzee trekking takes about 30 minutes to 5 hours, and while looking for the chimpanzees you will be impressed with the stunning views of the different bird species, tree and plant species, and other primates. Once the chimpanzees are found, you will send one hour in the presence of the chimpanzees in their natural habitats while watching them doing their daily activities like resting, breastfeeding, feeding, playing, taking their pictures, recording their moments and among others. After the one hour you will trek back to the starting point and be awarded with the chimpanzee trekking certificates for taking part in chimpanzee trekking and then later your safari guide will transfer you to your lodge for lunch and then check out from the lodge and then transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.

You will begin with your journey to Queen Elizabeth national park which is the second largest national park in Uganda, along the way you will have the perfect views and then upon your arrival you will have the en-route game viewing experience as you are heading to your lodge to where you will spot elephants, buffaloes, lions and among others. Upon your arrival you will check in your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth national park.

On the 3rd day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast, after breakfast you will meet your safari guide and then transfer to the park to sight the early risers, the game drive is such perfect that takes you to the verdant savannah plains to where you will sight the big four mammals of the big five mammals that includes the lions, buffaloes, leopards and elephants, as well as other mammals during the experience, without forgetting the bird species. After the game drive you will transfer to your lodge for lunch.

After lunch you will again come for more experience to do afternoon boat cruise on the famous Kazinga channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George that is known for having the largest numbers of the hippopotamuses in the country and the activity takes you about 2 to 3 hours’ drive, as well you will spot the giant crocodiles and lots of bird species including cormorants, African fish eagles, bee-eaters, yellow-bellied storks, African jacana and among others, and others. You will see other animals along the water shores that come to drink and soak up the channel. After you will transfer to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park.

On the 4th day of the safari, after your breakfast you will check out from your lodge and then meet your safari guide and then begin on your journey to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park through Ishasha sector to where you will spot the tree climbing lions lying up in the tree branches as you are doing the game drive, as well you will be able to spot the incredible animal species and then bird species. After the game drive you will proceed with your journey and then make a stopover and enjoy lunch. After lunch continue with your journey until you arrive Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and then check in your lodge and then check in for your dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park.

On the 5th day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast. After breakfast you will carry your lunch, and meet your safari guide and he will transfer you to the park’s headquarters for the gorilla trekking briefing of the rules and regulations to follow by the experienced park ranger and guides. After the briefing you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek and a park guide who is knowledgeable about the mountain gorillas and also conversant with the various gorilla trekking traits. Gorilla trekking takes a period of about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas.

 During gorilla trekking you will be impressed with the diverse spotting of various biodiversity and once the mountain gorillas are spotted you be given a period of one hour to be in the presence of the gorillas, that is watching them feeding, playing, breastfeeding, mothers grooming their young ones, taking pictures and recording their videos and among others. After the experience you will be transferred back to the starting point to where you will be will receive the gorilla trekking certificates for taking part in gorilla trekking. After the experience you will be transferred for the optional Batwa community experience this is where you will interact with them, check out their curio shops, enjoying their dances and songs, and among others. Later you will be transferred to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Day 6: Departure.

On the final day of the safari, wake up early in the morning and take a hearty breakfast. After breakfast, you will check out from your lodge and meet your safari guide and then get ready to transfer back to Kampala. Along the way you will have a stopover in Mbarara to where you will have the enroute lunch at Igongo cultural centre, this is a unique and a fascinating spot that showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Ankole people.

As you savor a delicious meal of the local cuisine, you will be treated to a captivating experience of the traditional dances, crafts and among many others that offers a glimpse into the vibrant culture. The center’s tranquil surroundings, beautiful gardens and scenic views of the perfect environment that add to the charm of this memorable lunch experience. After the experience you will proceed with your journey until you reach in Kampala. And once you arrive you will be dropped at Entebbe International Airport for your flight next back home or your hotel in Kampala that will make your safari come to the end.
